Hello Brandon,

some of our customers using this setup.

Some advantages: consistent failure mode, easier management, less control
communication overhead, easier firewalling from customer side (only one IP).

Downsides are: less efficient resource usage (usually you end up with too many
rtpengines), more complicated management and maintenance, no capability to
split media and SIP location/IPs (obviously)

Both models are fine, just depends on your service details and preferences.

Cheers,

Henning

Subject: [SR-Users] Kamailio + RTPEngine same host question

Hey all,

Curious on the idea of running kamailio and rtpengine on the same host, has
anyone done this with production levels of traffic?

Looking to get some various opinions.

Pros / Cons?

Thanks in advance!

- Brandon
