Flogging women may seem brutal but it is perfectly normal in Islam. Countries that follow Islamic Sharia law often flog women for various crimes. The following video was posted on Youtube. It shows how two policemen are flogging a woman in a public place for an unknown crime. Please watch with caution as it contains graphic images that some may find disturbing. Video cannot be seen without a Youtube account. Sign up is required, which can be done in a few simple steps. Articles 154 and 155 of the 1991 Sudanese penal code allow up to 100 lashes. Last year, another woman made the headline after she challenged a court order of flogging because she was wearing a trouser. Flogging, however, is very common in Sudan as it follows the Quran and Sunnah (Mohammed’s lifestyle). After the video was posted on Youtube, Sudan’s judiciary has called for an investigation.
