Raziyakhatun Pathan, from Chapra district, was apprehended from near H L Park Housing Society in Kadi taluka while she was walking towards the main road with a hand bag in which the weapons were kept, ATS officials said. According to the officials, they had got information that a woman from Bihar had come to Gujarat with weapons and was staying in Kadi. Based on the input, a watch was kept and Pathan was intercepted. She was found in possession of six loaded pistols, four loaded magazines and 22 live bullets, they said. Further interrogation revealed the weapons were sent by Pathan’s husband Naushad Khan, who was previously accused under now repealed anti-terror law POTA, the officials said. Naushad was lodged in Sabarmati Jail here for smuggling of weapons, and after release he went to Bihar. The officials are interrogating the woman to find out if she had delivered any arms consignment in Gujarat, and whether she was part of an inter-state gang using women to smuggle weapons.
