Hi folks...

I've been struggling for a while here trying to get port forwarding working through
ssh.

Background:
        Server
                - Linux: 2.2.1 kernel, Redhat 5.2, i686
                - sshd 1.2.26, complied with libwrap
                - in /etc/hosts.allow:
                        sshfwd-23: ALL : allow
                        sshfwd-telnet: All : allow
                - in /etc/sshd_config (among other things)
                        AllowTcpForwarding yes
        Client
                - Win98
                - SecureCRT 2.3.2

I'm able to get an ssh connection (3DES, password auth) via SecureCRT. I've configured
this connection to forward the telnet port (23) on the win machine over ssh, to port
23 on the ssh server. On the win box I'll then try and open a telnet connection to
localhost:23. It's my understanding that, in theory, this should then work. BUT, no
dice...

Doing a tail -f on /var/log/messages, I see:

Feb 5 09:44:57 neutrino sshd1[0745]: log: Password authentication for stephan accepted.

So it looks like the connection makes it through, but for some reason it isn't doing
the fwd. I'm at a total loss here. Incidentally, I've attemped the above with the ftp
port, also to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated!

rgrds,
...stephan
