My mistake... I'll explain what I did though to prevent others from making the same mistake!!! After installing TeraTerm and ttssh, I continued to use TeraTerm itself for telnet / modem connections and ttssh for the ssh connections. If ttssh is loaded first, the ssh part works fine... it is loaded after TeraTerm is already running though it does not. Stupid mistake - I should have deleted that other icon!!!
