Yeah, I absolutely agree! Java on some small devices is often not very
efficient, in that case a native impl. is much better. In fact in many
situations a "native" implementation SHOULD be better, However, I've not
done any serious perf. tests with MindTerm, but I think it's pretty
fast/efficient in general even in comparison to the commercial ssh-clients
I guess (e.g. MindTerm is multi-threaded which I think not many other
clients are). It would be fun to run MindTerm with HotSpot on NT and
compare performance to other "native" win32 clients such as SecureCRT and
F-Secure (if someone does this I would be really interested in the
results!).
I haven't tried the TopGun impl. but it seems quite cool! I didn't mean to
say that MindTerm is even an option on e.g. PalmOS, it probably isn't, it
would be fun to try though :-).
