It is suppose to, but doesn't all the time. Nobody I work with here has
ever seen it do it correctly and there are over 100 developers using it.

Nope, not on our systems. We ALWAYS have to set it, and the SSH1 default
:10 never ever works. Sorry, but I've seen many people with this problem
on this list, but the stock answer is that SSH does it for you. I've never
seen it work except on my small network at home where Kerberos is
disabled. I intend to enable it this weekend and see if SSH will still
set DISPLAY correctly. I bet it won't.
