Good day...
First, let me say that I think the new Windows client has been done quite
well. Also, the appearance of the free license for Universities makes my
life easier as an admin to pull the plug on telnet and ftp.
However, there is, in my humble opinion, a glaring problem with version of
2.2 of the Windows client. I haven't checked the older versions for the
same bug, but I believe it is there based upon the documentation for the
product. If one uploads a file that Windows deems an application the
permissions at rwxrwxrwx. If one uploads a document file of any type, the
file goes up rw-rw-rw-. Why would a company who's products are all
security-related hardcode in values like this?
I've looked for a way to change the values. I saw no settings files and
couldn't find anything in the registry. I've come to the conclusion that
these values are hardcoded. If I'm wrong, please show me where to go as
well as documentation, since I've poured over everything I could find.
If it's not there I would like to see this. Yes, I have put in a feature
request. But I was hoping that there might be someone on SSH that might
escalate this need. Personally, I would like to see not only a dialog
within the Settings... to change the values, it would be even better if
SSH allowed different permissions based on the document suffixes.
Also, does anyone know if it is possible to get the source code for the
Windows application? I think personally I could code this in and
would be more than happy to share it with the rest of the community
and/or submit it back to SSH.
Thank you for your time and listening to my $0.02.
