Hi,

I'm sure I am still in newbie land here, but I have some more questions
about how this whole ssh thing works.

I have successfully setup ssh so that I can ssh from one machine to another.
I understand how to do it with or without passwords, etc.

As my studies into the subject have continued, I discovered something called
host based authentication, instead of user based authentication. I'm
guessing that this is how two hosts are setup to automatically authenticate
to one another.

Now my questions:

I have a network that looks something like the following:

PDX Server--->PDX Firewall--->Internet<---HIL Firewall<---HIL Server

Those servers serve up Samba services to a number of Windows clients.

It seems that what I want to do is get PDX Firewall and HIL Firewall to use
hostbased authentication, and then use port forwarding on 139 for the Samba
connections? am I correct in this?

If so, how the heck does host authentication work? I can get users to
authenticate all day, but I am missing some piece of this host
authentication thing. If someone would be kind enough to explain it to me in
detail I would be most appreciative.

Thanks.
