This is, in case you need to ssh back to your home computer.
If you only originate ssh connections from home to elsewhere, there
is no need to have your home computer's public host key anywhere. It
is only used when you're connecting to an sshd running on that computer.

This may be killing a fly with a shotgun...
In addition, ordinary users can't set it up, you have to be the DNS
admin for that domain (unc.edu?) (or get the admin to do it for you,
which may be very unlikely to happen...)
