Greetings all--
After finally getting the hang of how to do tunnels, have run up against a
little problem. Am running the commercial F-Secure ssh 1.3.7 with libwrap.
After starting an ssh tunnel from an SGI Irix 6.5 client to a Solaris 2.5.1
server using the command:
ssh -L 2001:rhost:21 rhost
password (et cetera)...
message of the day for rhost...
%
and then from a second session from the SGI client using the command
ftp localhost 2001
the session connects to the ftp daemon just fine. The ftp login is normal.
But when one does a command involving the data path, it always comes up
with:
425 Can't build data connection: connection refused
It appears to me that the client is _able_ to do passive connections but
something (like wrappers?) is getting in the way. I have attempted to put
the loopback address (127.0.0.1) in both client and server
/etc/hosts.allow to no effect. All the protocols listed in the faq are in
the hosts.allow.
My real question is - are the protocols that are listed in the SSH FAQ for
/etc/hosts.allow the only ones necessary or are there additional ones that
might be necessitated using the loopback interface??
Ideas welcome :-)
