I am very impressed by this group's responses to my question. I want to thank
each and every one of you. Turns out, my destination path was originally
deficient, leading to the messages. I was relying too much on the specifics of
the message to lead me to my error. Your support was really great, and needed.

Command that started it all:
scp <myfilepathfilename> destinationname@destinationhost:/www_doc/<myfilename>
