They use the BSD -mandoc format. -man under BSD uses either the old an macros
or the newer andoc depending on the source. I would look at groff again since
it ships with the andoc macros as part of the dist. You can manually see the
pages using:
gnroff -mandoc /path/manpage | less
You can override this by setting some environment variables and running a normal
man. I alias man under tcsh to:
alias man 'env TCAT=less TROFF="gnroff -mandoc" man -t'
It is unintuitive to do this since -t usually send to lp, but the -t really
means use the TROFF converter which has been defined to 'gnroff -mandoc',
sending the output to TCAT, defined as less instead of lp above. It would be
nice if the man page said this...
