I have more problems with the slow-start algorithm then any delays due to encryption. Bump local MTU up to 4096 and see huge gains. Normally, my LAN doesn't see real through-put until the files are >4MB. THEN is starts getting interesting. Even with encryption, my hosts can saturate the link (4, actually, quad NIC; Host = dual 860Mhz P-IIIs). > -----Original Message----- > From: Bob Babcock [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2001 12:44 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; > [EMAIL PROTECTED]; > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Can SSH be used just for encrypted > authentication and then > le t the rest of the session be unencrypted ? > > > > I was wondering the same thing myself.
