I am trying to compile OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 on an SGI Octane with Irix 6.5.3 installed. I made and installed OpenSSL and zilib, but when I try to ./configure OpenSSh I get a message that it cannot find the OpenSSL / SSLeay libraries and configure fails. The libraries are happily installed in /usr/local/ssl, but ./configure can't fins them. I tried --with-ssl-dir=/usr/local/ssl (Which shouldn't be necesary, since that dir is in configure's search path). but that did not help. It occurs to me that the problem may be the fact that I made OpenSSL for 64bit, and OpenSSH can't use the libs. My question is, rather than recompiling OpenSSL at 32 bit, can OpenSSH be compiled 64bit? I looked through ./configure and could not find an option for it.
Thank you,
