Hi there,

We've encountered a similar problem with expiring passwords;
Shortly before a user's password expires he/she gets a message:
"Your password will expire on ...", and later on the system forces the
user to change his/her password. This message does not prevent the
actual ssh connection, but the Secure File Transfer fails with the
message: "invalid packet size ..." ( yes sftp is along the path and works
otherwise perfect ). Changing the password fixes our problem, but doesn't
help you much I'm afraid.

I have a vague feeling of seeing someone write about this expiring
password problem before ... Just wanted you to know that we have submitted
a bug report conserning this matter. If this on the other hand isn't a bug
but a misconfiguration error I'd greatly appreciate someone giving me a
hint ...

We are running ssh2 2.4.0 on a Digital Unix 4.0 D.
