I believe you have to use a font with line drawing characters. Unfortunately, the only one which ships with windows with a complete character set is Terminal, IIRC. It's not the prettiest font, but it should do what you want.

I'm having a problem with the SSH 2.4 client for windows.
I cant get line draw to work, I tried using different fonts and changing
terminal answerback to VT100, 102, 220, 320, ansi and xterm.
