compiling under Tru64 5.0A on a Compaq alpha

Hi--
    I can get ssh-2.0.4 to compile on a Compaq alpha ES40 using the
Compaq compilers,
however upon execution I get:
# ./sshd2
21233:./sshd2: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in
/usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4: ttytype
21233:./sshd2: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in
/usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4: COLS
21233:./sshd2: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in
/usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4: LINES
21233:./sshd2: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in
/usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4: _nc_tracing
21233:./sshd2: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in
/usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4: TABSIZE
21233:./sshd2: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in
/usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4: cur_term
21233:./sshd2: /sbin/loader: Fatal Error: this executable has
unresolvable symbols

I see from the list of available platforms that others are able to
compile-- so I must be missing
something-- any suggestions?
