Not a bad idea.  FYI, I just checked the two Linux distributions in
front of me, Debian and VA Linux-enhanced Red Hat.  Debian comes up
clean -- in that the only dynamic object dependencies are to libraries
in /lib, which personally I can live with.  VA-Red Hat has seven 
binaries in those directories that invoke libs inside /usr: four parts
of Linuxconf (ugh!), the BSD restore utility, and varmon (a utility for
managing Mylex RAID controllers).

So, off I go to file some trenchant bug reports.
