I have been having the same problem. Like Ken I am running
tru64 Unix 5.1 on most of my systems but the Secure Shell
implementation I am using is SSH Secure Shell 2.4.0 (non-commercial
version). The problem does not seem to depend on the sftp
client, I have tried both the command line sftp and the
ssh Windows client.

While SSH 2.4.0 fails on nfs mounted file systems when the
server is running Unix 5.1 it works when running on Unix 4.0f.

Any help in solving this problem would be appreciated.
