SSH banner removal

Is it possible to change the SSH banner information so that there is no version numbers displayed?   I tried editing the source myself, but it didn't work  =[   [user@host(~)]: telnet localhost 22 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. SSH-1.99-OpenSSH_2.5.1
