Thanks Ray,

I should have looked closer. But I used -v option, and I discovered the
box that is dropping the ssh session is authenticating myself but it is
responding initially with a loopback address 127.0.0.1 port 22. Now I
don't know why the box would be replying with the loopback address. 
So in the end here I appear to be establishing a connection with my self?
I'm not sure why this box is not replying with its own IP. I know the box
works fine, because If I do ping it, then arp, or even nslookup on it they
all return correct machine name as well IP. 

Still a little lost, but getting closer.
