I don't understand your setup. If you have port 22 allowed through to pass
through your firewall, the X11 connection is tunneled inside it and the
firewall has idea of what is contained within the SSH session.
Set both client and server to verbose/debug mode (-v and -d, respectively)
and see what happens, when you are trying to start up and X application.
