(I'm new to the field of cryptography and to this mailing list, so
accept my apologies if this question has been answered already).
Is there a max allowed length for keys associated to certificates? I've
seen somewhere that the X.509 standard is 512 bits, but that 1024 is
allowed too. Is this the absolute max value? Then, what about the
browsers? do they support multipls key lengths by default?
I have one additional question: are there any figures on the computing
power needed to crack asymmetric keys?
Thanks in advance
