Your are correct. The Ruby does not have a super heater. In the
production models the steam line runs under the boiler with no contact with
the boiler.
I currently have my Ruby apart and spread all over my work bench as a
start to some modifications, including a super heater, wooden cab, wooden
pilot, (shameless plug for Vance's parts) front pilot wheels and a rear
truck. The idea is to get it to resemble a locomotive I saw on display in
Minnesota that resembles a Forney somewhat. I am still searching for parts
and materials to make the conversion.
