Perhaps what I was told was fiction as well, but I really think that I remember
seeing photos of a steam engine powered airplane. Probably a prototype that never
got off the ground (pun intended). Used a flash boiler I'm thinking.
Have the rest of you seen the radial steam engine that makes it's way to DH
every year? I don't know the gentleman's name who built it, but he seems quite
knowledgeable about such things and is very friendly (like all steamers <grin>).
Maybe he can help us with our steam powered airplane engine history.
