Bert a board foot is a plank of wood that measures 1 foot x 1 foot x 1
inch.

Check this ouit on how it is applied to trees.

Subject: [SSLiveSteam] Board feet

to all,

Sorry to get away from the direct subject of steam, but I have been
looking at some logging engine photos for a new project. I noticed the
tree trunks being hauled by the logging engines were referred to in
"board feet" eg "56000 board feet". I thought I must be the only one
who did not know what this is and cautiously asked a couple of people.
Now I'm wiser and realize that I'm not the only one who does not know
what a board foot is. Can anyone please help with this measurement?
sorry for getting off the subject of steam but....

Thanks in anticipation

Bert in Austria.
