Yup... There was a nut in there.  Maybe, using a small, stiff piece of 
bent wire, you could fish it back into place since it should be captive 
behind the ceramic insulation.  When I glue in this insulation I use a 
lot of that silicone-like stuff Aster gives you, so little nuts and 
things won't fall into the abyss...
