Um, never mind.
CONFIG_VIRTIO_NET needs CONFIG_VIRTIO_PCI here, and the latter was
disabled for whatever reason. The virtualbox guest module was an even
worse case of PEBKAC. And the 3.4.49 issue was triggered by a broken
build script of mine, resulting in errors with rts5139. Quite odd, if
time permits I'll post a write-up.
