Thanks Everyone. I think now I have enough stuff to get started working on it.

Re: [staf-users] Can STAX/STAF handle VM
Thanks Kelvin. Yes I will be using VMWare infrastructure. It would be great if
you can point me to some pointers to get started or some examples.
I want to do following –
1) Start a VM
2) Take a Snapshot of the VM
3) Push application and Test on them
4) Run the app and the test
5) Revert back to snapshot
6) Close the VM
Many Thanks in advance.

Subject: Re: [staf-users] Can STAX/STAF handle VM
We have created a STAF service which handles all of our VM VMWare interactions.
We interact with the Virtual Machines via the VMWare Virtual Infrastructure
which provides a Java and a Perl API. This gives us the ability to
create/revert and list snapshots associated with a specific VM. Additionally we
have added the ability to boot, shutdown and force a reboot of a VM. If you
are interacting with your virtual machines via the VMWare Virtual
Infrastructure you should easily be able to create a simple service.

STAF/STAX itself does not provide the capability to take a snapshot of a VM or
restore a snapshot. But you could use the STAF PROCESS service to submit a
START request to a machine to run a command for an application that takes a
snapshot of a VM or restores a snapshot of a VM.

[staf-users] Can STAX/STAF handle VM
Currently I have a stax job which can push application and test cases on a
number of VM’s and then install the application and run the test cases against
the application on different Virtual Machines(VM). I would like to know – can
staf/stax take snapshot of a vm before starting anything on it and then revert
back to the snapshot once everything Is done. Looks like a good to have feature
in my application.
Any help here will be really appreciated.
