The XMPP Extensions Editor has received a proposal for a new XEP.
Title: Server IP Check

The XMPP Council will decide at its next meeting whether to accept
this proposal as an official XEP.
Can some provide a realistic use scenario for this extension?
In particular, a case where a client does not (yet) know it's external
IP address but knows that any IP packets set to that external IP would
generally arrive at the client?
I operate servers behind NATs all the time. Those servers generally
have knowledge configured into them regarding external IP (and ports)
which reach them. I also have clients which use port reservation
protocols, that provide an external IP address and port that can be
used to reach the client. I simply having a hard time finding a
general use for the proposed mechanism.
Thanks, Kurt
