I still think that reusing of service discovery to discover shared files as it was in the XEP-135 is better. jabber:iq:search can be reused there too.

Also, it seems that there is a mistake in the regex here:

<validate xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/xdata-validate'
          datatype='xs:string'>
    <regex>*.png</regex>
</validate>

The XMPP Extensions Editor has received a proposal for a new XEP.

Title: File Information Sharing

Abstract: This document specifies a simple extension to existing protocols that
allows an entity to request information about files.

URL: http://xmpp.org/extensions/inbox/fis.html

The XMPP Council will decide in the next two weeks whether to accept this
proposal as an official XEP.
