My problem with XEP-0226 is that it embarks on an endless task of documenting every message-related extension out there. An example problem this causes would be interop issues with undocumented private extensions. Message hints provide a basic palette that allows anyone to colour any message any way they like. They can be used by both implementations and other extensions, without every implementation having to update their profile classification rules when a new XEP is published. Regards, Matthew
