1) Roll Call - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:02:01
Kev sent apologies. [Kev is to vote on-list for all items] All others present. Dave asked if anyone was willing to take minutes, and was a bit disappointed by the lack of response. He figures if he writes them badly enough someone else will take it on. 2) Advance XEP-0363 to Draft - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:04:07 https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0363.html Georg noted an issue with header encodings he has already noted on list. He suspects a security issue is possible here which might allow an XMPP server to infiltrate a corporate network in some cases. While not totally confident this is exploitable, he believes it should be noted in the Security Considerations prior to Advancement. Georg's issues are here: https://mail.jabber.org/pipermail/standards/2017-November/033936.html Dave noted he had missed some feedback on list, and would therefore read this before voting. Sam and Daniel both +1. Georg -1 (as above: feedback to be addressed) 3) Advance XEP-0352 to Draft - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:11:22 https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0363.html Georg noted the loose wording in ยง3.2. Dave and Sam both argued that this was a feature not a bug. Sam and Daniel both +1, Georg 0. Dave noted outstanding feedback from Kev, and is voting -1 until he understands what Kev wishes to do. (ie, this is a holding veto to avoid the specification advancing by default if Kev doesn't vote for some reason). 4) Advance XEP-0234 to Draft - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:15:32 https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0363.html Daniel has outstanding feedback on this specification from Last Call. Dave, Sam, Georg +1. Daniel -1 (as above: feedback to be addressed) 5) Advance XEP-0186 to Draft - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:17:55 https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0363.html All present +1 6) XEP-0198 handling of mismatched h value - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:19:36 https://github.com/xsf/xeps/pull/579 and list discussion. Dave felt this needs to specify a particular stream error, and could probably be a SHOULD rather than MUST [thus demonstrating he should read the PR before making stupid suggestions as the latter is there already, sorry!]. Georg asked if Council should vote on the exact wording or just its merit. Dave opined that Council must vote on the technical content of the change. Georg, Sam, Daniel all +1 Dave -1 for reasons noted above. 7) [ If time allows ] Post-summit discussion - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:23:08 Georg noted that he'd like Server Operators to sign the Spam Fighting Manifesto found at https://gist.github.com/ge0rg/2e4accf6950821ca45f743fdf587c08e Dave asked if Georg wanted Council to make any statement on this, and Georg asked what kind of statement Council could make. Dave suggested Council could make a statement about anything. Dave proposed the motion that Council thanks the Summit sponsors and organisers. All present voted +1. Given Kev's clear conflict of interest - he is one of the subjects of the thanks - Dave has sneakily bypassed his vote and Council therefore duly thanks the organisers and sponsors of the Summit for their support and hard work. 8) AOB - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:29:00 Sam noted that XHTML-IM is still up for deprecation. Save promised to place this on next week's agenda, and moreover to flag this on the standards list. Dave apologised for letting this slip another week, and thanked Sam for his patience here. 9) Next Meeting - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:29:23 The next meeting shall be held on Wednesday 14th February 2018 at 1600 UTC. Bring roses. 10) Ite, Meeting Est - http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2018-02-07/#16:31:25 _______________________________________________ Standards mailing list Info: https://mail.jabber.org/mailman/listinfo/standards Unsubscribe: [email protected] _______________________________________________
