Hello!

12.05.2020, 22:36, "Jonas Schäfer (XSF Editor)" <[email protected]>:

This message constitutes notice of a Last Call for comments on
XEP-0393.

Title: Message Styling
Abstract:
This specification defines a formatted text syntax for use in instant
messages with simple text styling.

URL: https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0393.html

This Last Call begins today and shall end at the close of business on
2020-05-26.

Please consider the following questions during this Last Call and send
your feedback to the [email protected] discussion list:

1. Is this specification needed to fill gaps in the XMPP protocol
stack or to clarify an existing protocol?

No. If we need to exchange formatted text, and we don't want to use deprecated XEP-0071: XHTML-IM, using XEP-0394: Message Markup sounds like much better idea.

2. Does the specification solve the problem stated in the introduction
and requirements?

Yes.

3. Do you plan to implement this specification in your code? If not,
why not?

No. Using markdown for text formatting is basically not a good idea, 'cause clients, which do not support such markdown will display a lot of garbage. Also, it recomends to display markup characters as well, so even clients, which support this XEP will also display a lot of garbage.

4. Do you have any security concerns related to this specification?

No.

5. Is the specification accurate and clearly written?

I guess so.

With my best regards,
Konstantin
