I can't recall this being discussed on the standards list.

In any case, I'm concerned that the behaviour isn't entirely clear.

Firstly, it refers to "SCRAM", but I think it needs to refer to the SCRAM
family of mechanisms, to make it a little clearer.

Secondly, it suggests I should use the non-PLUS name, but I'd rather this
were explicit.
