well, since some people started presenting themselves, I guess it's my turn.
i'm 26 years old, french (why do you think I have this outrageous accent ?) and studying in Nancy in the north-east of France. i'm studying computer science since quite some time by now, and I'm a big supporter of free/open source software. i'm used to C, perl, a bit of C++ (you'll see that the "++" in ascendancy is only a little part of it) and I really like fiddling with the system. I'm also a good musician playing a lot of instruments (some coming directly from space) and I can use soundtrackers on my computer. (multitrack hard disk recorders is a skill I'm starting to learn, but ardour isn't that easy). like pablo I like languages both natural and artificial and I speak french, english, german (i've been several years in school in saarbrücken in germany), and a really little bit of japanese and arabic. for the little story I started japanese and then found me an arabic girlfriend (yeah, destiny), and studying both languages at the same time is just too hard for me. I made my master degree on compiler optimizations and I'm quite good at using profilers. right now i'm in my third year of Phd on grid computing. this year I decided as a good resolution that I had to do something to revive ascendancy and well, here I am ! I hope everyone of you is going to have a lot of fun in the project, and that we'll be able to meet us all one day. anyway if you happen to come near the north-east of france don't hesitate to drop by. see you, Fred -- Why fear computers ? They don't byte !
