Hi folks - My brother-in-law now has my old StarMax 4000, and he has added an Iomega Predator USB CD-RW. Of course he has an USB PCI card installed. The problem we are running into is that the drive is not recognized by Toast 4.x that came with the drive. Ironically, Apple System Profiler (System 9.1) recognizes it, and we can burn CDs from iTunes. We cannot currently find a method, however, to burn data CDs. Toast just returns the message łNo CD writer found.˛ I tried to install Apple Authoring Support and Disk Burner, figuring that since iTunes worked fine so would DiskBurner. No go...it says you must have a machine that shipped with USB ports. Any ideas here? The drive obviously works...they system obviously recognizes it, and iTunes can burn music CDs. What am I missing?
Oh I also made sure the latest incarnation of Toast 4 was installed and the latest USB drivers from Apple are installed. Thanks -- David W.
