Hi,
I have a solution. The starMax recovery CD contains a driver in it boot
block about 512bytes. I have extracted this and replaced the one on an
image of the Apple CD 9.1 cd. Burn't it back and now the CD-Rom boots in
the machine with the correct Hitachi Driver in the boot black of the CD.

Booting from any OS CD IS NOT dependent on any cdrom drivers in your
normal OS system! When you can boot from a OS cd you are NOT using your
normal operating system.

Something else is wrong.

Will your computer (cd drive) mount the 9.1 cd ?

I'm not sure what os you are running, but could it be that you are
trying to make too big a jump all at once ? jr
