If you decide to go the file sharing route I recommend a Realtek ethernet
card. I installed one and downloaded the drivers (Direct Download link for
OSX RT8139 driver:
ftp://ftp.realtek.com.tw/lancard/drivers/8139/rtl8139_091.tar) and bought a
crossover cable from the same place as the network card to save on shipping
(owc.com) I'm a nurse and set it up with a little advice from the list so
it's not very hard. A firewire connection is said to be faster but it
transfers plenty fast. The card and cable may come in useful in the future
too. I think putting in your old HD as a slave in the G4 should be workable
also.
