I read this about a week ago and was concerned because I had just ordered a
9.1 install cd from an ebay seller which was an iBook cd ("cd version 2.1").
I emailed the seller and he also burned a copy of a generic (supposedly)
install cd and sent with it. I tried the CDR copy first but it would not
work to install in my Starmax while the iBook cd *did* work, and I have 9.1
now. Cost about $20.
I have been told it's best to install 9.1 not 9.2 on the starmax (maybe that
makes a difference).
I notice that the computer now uses about 40-50 mb of ram for the OS 9.1 (vs
20-25 for OS 8.6) so I advise anyone planning to install it to have at least
128 mb of ram and preferably the max 160. The installer CD also installed a
newer version of Outlook Express, 5.2, which I like a lot.
