I'm a little rusty on OS 8, but try opening the TCP/IP control panel 
and see if Ethernet is listed as an option there.   If not, I would 
suspect a problem with the drivers.   Also if you have any 
diagnostics supplied by Asante, try them to see if the card is 
working at all.
