Hi All,
I've been a fan of Netscape for a number of years, but
recently I've discovered that something is going on. I'm not normally
a conspiracy proponent, but I have to say there seems to have been an
attempt by someone/group to diminish the reliability of Netscape in
the later "4" versions and early "6" versions. I was told to watch
the association of AOL/Timewarner and Bill Gates (Internet Explorer)
All very behind the scenes, of course. I never really saw anything to
confirm such hankie pankie but there's definitely been a downgrading
in the quality of Netscape in recent months. I have to say though
that for the Mac OS X version 6.2 seems to be moving in the right
direction now. Frankly all the browsers will crash so I have three
browsers on my machines. In addition to Netscape and IE I discovered
a browser called "Opera". It's not as "robust" in features as the
former two, but it works quite well and is much smaller to download
and does seem to navigate the Internet a bit faster than either of
the other browsers. You might like to check it out as an alternative
to the "big boys" browsers. http://www.opera.com/ The only drawback
is like the e-mail client "Eudora 5.1" it has a 30 day free period
without Ads then a banner will display. I'm just beginning to get the
banners so I don't know just how annoying it will be.....Worth a look
anyway.... Good luck! Jim
