Ok, some thoughts... Maybe different media, how about CD-R? Will a CD come up on the SM's desktop? What OS, do you need to go to 8.6 or 9? Update Toast? USB is painfully slow and very finicky but I know it can work because I burned CDs on my SM on a ZIP 650 USB. I turned the speed down (2x), selected the greatest cache, and rebooted into an Extension Set made up just for burning, everything else not necessary is turned off (peripheral's extensions, etc.). Latest driver for the USB card? Is there anything on the CD-RW after a failed burn? Turn off virtual memory.
