Followup on my problem of long transfers.. thanks to David, it appears to have fixed the hang during long transfers ( I reseditted the finder file and increased the ram allocated to it)
I have a followup question .. Don't know if any one has seen this before. Config: Starmax OS8.6 'hubbed' with a Window's XP PC, both with 10/100 ethernet cards into a 8 node 10BaseT dumb hub. Serv-u ftp server running on windows machine Whether I use fetch or transmit ... moving a large file between my PC and Mac I get two different speeds. For example, from my Mac , putting a file on the PC's desktop, I max out at approx 360KB/sec .. but if I 'pull' the same file back from the PC, I get speeds in excess of 1MB/sec .. so it seems a push is approx 3 times slower then a pull? I tried having multiple ftp sessions to see if I could saturate the link, and it doesn't seem to change .. my combined sessions add up are around 360KB. I've tried adjusting the send/receive buffer sizes in Serv-U .. but I did not see much of a change. I've tried adjusting the settings in Fetch to no avail. Is FTP normally like this? I can't figure why I would see a difference.
