Am trying to install an IDE/ATAPI Memorex CRW-1622 burner in my StarMax 5500/200. It was working fine in a PC, although it's old and slow. It hangs my StarMax during boot and makes odd whirring sounds; unplug the IDE cable (which is plugged into the CD-ROM port on the motherboard), and the whirring sounds stop and the StarMax boots.
Apparently, I need a CD-ROM Toolkit "supported device" icon to put in my system folder. Unfortunately, I've got CDT 3.0.2, which doesn't support the CRW-1622 even they're both about the same vintage. I've also got Toast 4.05 (which Adaptec says supports the CRW-1622). Short of buying the latest version of CDT, which should support the Memorex, all I need, I think, is the very small Memorex CRW-1622 "supported device" file (27K or thereabouts). Does anyone have it, and would you be so kind as to e-mail it to me?
