Good day listers,
I'm new to the starmax list. Just found that you existed as problems have started
developing on my Starmax machines. Glad you're here. I'm on a similar list for my
British car and it is invaluable! Unfortunately, I'm a lot more comfortable busting my
knuckles on the car than I am doing anything on the computer.

I have a Starmax 5000/300 and a Starmax 4000/200. They both have been good machines
with little trouble. But now that it has been so long since they were made (and long
since out of warranty) no one wants to look at them. Looks like we are on our own?

My current problem is with the 4000/200. There are random lines that run horizontally
across the monitor that gets worse as the machine is used (to a point that nothing can
be read or seen). I've tried a known 'good' monitor, and it made no difference. A PC
knowledgeable friend of mine said it sounds like a bad video card. I understand that
the Motorola uses a video card on the motherboard so it's not as easy as just
replacing the video card in a PCI slot. If that is indeed my problem, can the
'on-board' video component be by-passed and a pci slot video card installed?

Thanks for any responses,
Terry.
