OK, so I know the limit on SM's is 160Mb RAM. Motorola sez so. However, the memory limit on many Mac's has been understated... (not a Mac, not a Mac).
So, has anyone *ever* tried jamming a 128'er in the good old girl, just to see?? I'm reasonably sure there wasn't such a beast made, in the Motorola heyday. And nowdays they're about 2 1/2 times the price of a comparable 5V DIMM. Not a real cheap experiment. I'm a bit short on RAM specs but when I see these specs @ factorydirectmemory: 128MB LAZER EDO 168PIN 3.3V 60NS NON-ECC 2K UNBUFFERED DIMM FDZE64U/128/H3V/2K I start thinking... 128MB: Would get me outta da pickle jar. (VM sucks) EDO: OK 60NS: OK UNBUFFERED: OK 2K Refresh: Ok, & maybe better for G3 upgrades than 4k? NON-ECC: I dunno. $70: Sheesh! (Have seen some 4K'ers W/WO ECC for around $50, also) Ah, dream on... But, I've managed a 128MB SIMM in a Performa 575 board that was suppose to only see 32MB'ers in it's day. It was $31 shipped & cheap enough for the gamble (w/docs of 64MB'ers working) I keep hearing (but not confirming) of some PCI Mac'ers stuffing 128MB'ers in 64MB'er slots. Might there be holes out there, with need of filling?
