I think lightly used G4 desktop/towers will be available in a yr for about $400- $500- it just depends on how long you want to wait, whether you want used or new, etc. I have another Mac which is a Beige G3 I got for about $200 a yr ago and upgraded the processor chip from a 266 to a 400mhz, overclocked it to 433 and put in a video and firewire card (already had a USB card). It runs quite a bit faster than the starmax with a 260 G3 card. I could put OS X on that computer but am holding out, have 9.2.1 on it now so that I can load mp3's to an old-model iPod, and still use all the pre- OSX software. I plan to stay with this setup for a while, then maybe put a G4 chip in it, more ram (has 256), and OSX some day. George (NickUtah)
