Greetings, I am writing to ask questions that I suspect have been answered ad infinitum on here but I have deleted some of the digests and don't know where else to go for advice. I have a Power City tower that has a Tanzania mother board and a 604e 200 hz processor. I am given to understand that it is functionally equivalent to the Starmax 4000. It has 5 pci slots. Currently I have a Twin Turbo 128(I think) graphics card driving an old IBM monitor at 60hz, 800x600 resolution. The TT is in the slot farthest from the motherboard. I have a 10/100 ethernet card in the slot second from the motherboard. I also have an IOGear GIC220U usb card in the slot nearest the mb. The ethernet and graphics cards seem to work fine in whatever slot they reside. I probably haven't tried every combination but all I have tried work. The usb card has yet to work no matter which slot I put it in. Apple System Profiler shows 4 slots with this configuration. Slot $H1: PCI Slot card type: pci, card name: pci-bridge, card model and card ROM#: not available, card revidion: 1, card vendor ID: 1011. Slot $B1: Ethernet card. Slot $E1: Display card Slot $A1: PCI Slot, card type: pci, card name: multi-function device, card model, ROM#, and card revision: Not available, card vendor ID: -1. I believe this is the usb card. I am using MacOS 8.6 which is supposed to have support for usb and there are extensions that claim to be related to usb. I have downloaded and installed usb support 1.4.1 from Apple. I have played musical cards trying to find a configuration that will allow the usb to work. If I put the usb card anywhere but in the slot closest to the motherboard I only find in the System Profiler one slot listed, populated with the display card. The display card and ethernet card seem to work under these circumstances, there simply appears to be only one slot. I have been trying to connect a Vivitar digital camara through the usb port but it will not show up on the desktop as advertized. There were drivers included with the camara for OSX but none for 8.6 to 9.x. Supposedly they are not needed. If anyone has any ideas what I should try next, I would very much like to hear them. TIA redsilo
